Hi,
This is my first post. We recently lost a fully restored early '50's 8n in a wildfire in Oregon. Our insurance agent wants a picture of the data plate. I don't remember seeing it, can someone tell me where to look?
Thanks,
Jim

orry to hear about that, many are loosing lives and possessions in that catastrophe. Here is some information from tractordata.

Sorry to hear that. And to clarify a little
more on what 8NChris said, it's not really
a data plate, the tractor serial number is
stamped on the block just below the head,
as his picture shows. You'll probably need
to wire brush that area to read the
numbers.

Thank you all for the fast reply. We lost several antique vehicles that we used ever day and the insurance adjuster would rather call call them junk. Fortunately, I have pictures and videos of them in action.

What the heck does the data plate have to do with insurance??? Save all your pictures of your restored 8N, close-up on engine block serial number included, and any records/receipts of what all you did on your restoration. The data plate was riveted to the battery tray but won't tell you anything. It goes to show you what insurance companies know about vintage tractors. Idiots.

You do not have to accept the insurance Company's first offer. Find a few tractors in similar condition to yours that are for
sale and submit the pictures to the Adjuster.

Your tractor(s) are covered under your homeowners policy unless you opted to have a specific extra policy specific for the tractor and/or vintage antiques or things.
