More advice needed, this time it is the temp. gauge. I bought a new gauge from YT and fitted it but it will not tighten up in the cylinder head as the gland nut will not screw in far enough. Should there be a spacer/washer to put on the end to take up gap between the temp bulb and the bottom of the hole ? If so where do I get one ? The gauge that I have came with an adapter fitting for a larger hole so I guess it is a universal gauge. Thanks for any help.

You may need to clean years worth of deposits out of the hole.
Or, you may have gotten the incorrect gauge bulb length.

Often such issues are caused by part(s) of the old sensor bulb remaining in the cylinder head.

Are you certain that ALL of the old sensor bulb came out?

Yes Sean all of it came out and the bulb is the same length but it is loose after tightening. I am going to try to get a washer that fits over the bulb and try that. I am wondering if maybe in the past someone has drilled an old bulb out and deepened the hole.
