Radiator on 8N: Is this normal?

I was experiencing overheating, hot antifreeze spitting thru the cap and staining the hood, and loss of fluid to who knows where. Changing the water pump didn't help. Changed the exhaust gaskets (easy repair), motor oil (there's my antifreeze), drained and changed antifreeze, and finally put in a new thermostat where I never had one before.

I am so happy! Now when I pull a 6 ft mowing deck to cut the grass, and when I'm done, I'll turn off the key, and the gas bowl, and immediately grab the radiator cap, and feel that it's still cool to the touch, and immediately open it (no pffttt) and the antifreeze level is perfect, and no more gurgling,or spitting. The antifreeze seems like it's not even affected as no signs of boiling, or movement. After three hours of operating, there's just no more boiling. What a perfect machine.

MOST all overheating issues are due to OVERFILLING, UNDERFILLING, and LACK OF A THERMOSTAT. Your water was probably good, and, you should have simply rebuilt it -they sell a kit.

If your system is clean, no reason to clean/change radiator fluid every 2 years.

I have done old cars,trucks,tractors.........10-15 years still fine.

I cleaned my 9N 1989, as radiator got a hit. Flushed/cleaned all. Still same GREEN FLUID running now, no rust or crap. Still looks new no rust.
