Early Gas Tank With A Late Propane Tank Hood.

The former owner and architect of this hood passed away a few years back. He filled in the propane tank hole, made a small hood and braised on the factory hinge. Problem is the patch covered the gas tank filler cap. I have an early gas tank and can get to my battery from the side so I figured why not. Moved the mounting brackets forward 8", dropped the gas tank 3/16" and removed the factory hinge. Some hammer and dolley work got me a functioning hood. After I finish digging I'll install the oil bath air cleaner and do something with the hinge area.

Appears you have a funk conversion on that tractor. I wonder if the hood was clearance for the funk conversion and not related to propane. Neat mid sixties truck in your pictures, have any better pictures of it?

y 48 used to be a propane but was cut out more when a 20 gallon automotive gas tank was used to convert it to carburetor. The man I bought it from removed the car tank and installed the 39 tank. The hood I found recently was also a propane hood at first.

I did a cheap overhaul on the all standard 352 about 9 years or so back. The past two years the old Ford has made 12.5 round trips from Waco, Texas to Roswell, New Mexico. Usually with a loaded trailer. The only troubles I had so far was three blow trailer tires in one trip. They were all old 10 ply tires at 70 psi. It was 112 that day, no telling what the road temperature was. Easy fix, moved the truck tires to the trailer and put new ones on the 1965 F-250.

The other one was grandpa's, dad's then my 1965 F-100. I've had the F-100 since I was 13, bought the F-250 in 2011. Turns out they were both made in July of 65 at the Kansas City plant. About 1,800 numbers apart.
