Another question this time regarding the timing on my Golden Jubilee. I have had the engine bored out to 3.5inches and it has got the domed pistons now obviously the compression ratio has changed so do I still use the 8 degree BTDC ? Thanks in advance for any help.

Jim, Thank you for asking, I have not tried anything yet as I have had other things to do.I was going to put something on here again but now I will answer you . I have bought 2 new mounting pads off ebay and I am now questioning that purchase. The center holes are smaller than the bolts which is not really a problem, the other thing is that they are only about a quarter inch thick. Is that the correct thickness.? Are YT,s pads thicker ? I hope you can answer this for me and thanks again.

I don't know how thick the pads are from Y.T., but 1/4 inch seems kind of thin. But it sounds like you have two sets of pads, so I would just use those and if you have to, some washers or whatever to get that radiator up high enough to clear the petcock and lower hose.

I recently rebuilt an old car motor. We got it bored .050 over and the shop found me domed pistons. I tried first with 93 octane but it still knocked too much. I backed the timing off 3 degrees and then it was good.

Thanks Jim, I have refitted the radiator with the new pads and moved the radiator forward very slightly and I think it will clear now.
