After replacing oil pump pickup tube and gears, checking main and rod bearings and cleaning everything up,adjusting
tappets, etc, the hydraulics didn't work. "Worked when parked"came to mind,so I drained the oil from the trans, hydraulic and
rear sumps. I took the PTO out,the lift cover off and pulled the pump. There was some gunk there, but not as much as I had
thought. I had some valve kits that I had bought from this site,so I started looking for pistons, cam blocks and a PTO
bushing. On ebay,I saw a listing for a lot of NOS hydraulic parts for 2n,9n,8n,so I bought it. There were 4 pistons,4 blocks
and a couple of bushings,in Ford boxes. I put a Naa piston in the lift cylinder so as to get the assumed leakage taken care
of. I cleaned the 3 sumps with a parts cleaner with a 4' hose so that I could get everything out of the walls of the sumps
where lots of gunk was. The diesel fuel worked really well along with some elbow grease working the parts cleaning brush. It
was clean enough and worked well after allowing the pump a few minutes to prime. It actually holds it's position when the
engine is stopped. Yay!!

It was nice to see the arms lift and stay there. I have worked on all kinds of engines from dirt bikes to hotrods, but this was the simplest one I've worked on in a while. The hydraulics were a bit strange, but not bad. The pump tried me getting it back in,but not too bad. If it ever stops raining,I have lots of work to use it on.
