Spin Out Wheels For An 8N

I was told about a set with good tires. Never seen any on an N series so I am not sure if that is what they really for. We ran a Massy 1085 for years, mainly hay. We also used what I am calling a batwing disc at times. We never had any problems but would hit them with an impact every so often. My tractor really does not work hard unless I am pushing dirt around with the dozer blade. It is more or less a mobile power source to run the backhoe, so I have no need for a seasonal width change. If I get these wheels does the group recomend swapping the tires over to my existing rims? Assuming the tires are in good shape I wouldn't need the wheels any longer than what it takes to clean up my existing rims. Going to offer $150 for the pair and see where it goes.

asically asking if y'all's experience says the N Series Spin Outs are not worth the head ache. I've read the design of some are very poor. While I am at it do my rear wheels appear original? They look like they are spot welded. The fronts are Ford - Kelsey Hayes, I think they are period correct.

Were N Series Spin Outs avaliable in 1948?

8N tractors were never sold with power adjust rims.

That said, power adjust wheel centers from both 55 and later Fords as well as vintage MF tractors of the era will bolt on but are designed for larger tires which will gear up your 8N, which is already geared
too highly for many purposes.

es it is. Back dragging around a house with the current 12.4's and backhoe is too fast. Thank's for the heads up.

The pictured rims are industry standard "6 loop" design.

N series tractors were originally sold with Ford specific "hat" rims. Hat rims have not been installed as OEM equipment since the end of N series production in late 54 and are no longer available.

Not sure what we are talking about here. The rims in this pic are loop rims and not at all spin outs. Loop rims came after the hat rims were discontinued on Ford Tractors and are available today.

e had two different questions.

I have seen the terminology but assumed hat rims were a 9 and 2N rim. Looked up some photos for 8N hat rims, now I know the differences. Judging by these 1948 and 1953 photo's the six loop rims appear to be copied from Massy. Is that correct?

found a yesterdaystractor link describing the early wheels here:

These pictured rims are industry standard "6 loop" rims, used by just about everyone.

Don't know who first used them.
