Sherman backhoe cylinder seals

hey guys i know this is not a 8n question,
but rather a sherman backhoe question...
would any of you happen to have the
information of what seals sherman used in
their 54b backhoe? I need measurements and
materials that I could substitute with more
modern componants.

just posted the same thing. I called the known shop but the old Sherman part numbers from the manual didn't help. I need to tear mine down and measure as well.

I have had great service from Hercules in Florida. You will need to open the cylinder and take measurements. Their customer service was terrific when I needed parts for an old loader.

Orignal was leather be my guess cause thats what was used then. Replaced by neofab, Hercules. Baum Iron. May have good hyd shop in area that will match and sell the seals. Some orings are involved too.

Did you ever find out what you needed for the seals?
I have a sherman power digger that's going to need the same thing.
If you did please let me know what is needed

Thanks

Just another thought. Can you be sure yours is the same as his after all these years? If it isn't and you buy the same as he purchased, you will have parts but not the ones you need. If it was mine, I would disassemble it and take the parts to a hydraulic shop and get what I know the one I have needs, not take the chance there has never been a cylinder swap on one or both over the years. If you don't have them, there are manuals for the Sherman 54B in the N Tractor Club library, which may help you.

Sherman 54B was made by Wain-Roy. The original pistons were supplied by Hydreco. They should be stamped on one of the ends under the paint
