connect old tachometer to front mount

(quoted from post at 12:09:46 08/17/20) I have an old analog tachometer that I wish to use to adjust my new carb on my 1948 8N front mount.

I am not sure how to do it. The instructions say to attach the Black cable to ground...I assume in this case inasmuch as the tractor has positive ground, I need to attach the Red lead to ground.

The instructions further state that I need to attach the Red lead [b:7da917e0d9]to the negative side of the coil[/b:7da917e0d9]. [i:7da917e0d9] However, my front mount coil (square can), does not have a [b:7da917e0d9]negative[/b:7da917e0d9] or a [b:7da917e0d9]positive[/b:7da917e0d9] pole as the only cars used to have...just one lead going to the top of the coil.[/i:7da917e0d9][i:7da917e0d9]

So, how should I attach the lead to the coil, or even if I can?[/i:7da917e0d9]

I bought one of those it didn't get along with my copper core wires.
