Trying to install new starter driver on my 41 9n and the hole on the new drive for the pin is partly covered with the washer. What is the trick to Getting pin in hole?

Thanks Bruce. Haven’t set up shop yet so no access to vise. Got the old drive off with no problem it’s the new one I got from Yesterday’s Tractor that I can’t get the pin back in on.

It has been a LONG time (like 20 or more years) since I replaced the drive on my '52 8N, so I may be completely out of line here. But I vaguely recall filing a very short taper on one side of the tip of the pin, and that was enough to let the pin get just started in the hole. Then it tapped in easily. But as I said, my memory may have failed me and I might be thinking of a unique way to get new laces in my work boots or something else crazy.
