PTO backlash thing

So I gather if we want to run a brush mower on these tractors, we need a PTO anti-backlash thing to keep the mower from driving the tractor when you step on the clutch...

is that what I have already?

It looks like one.
With the engine off and the pto in gear
try to turn it. It should turn easily one
direction and lock up when you turn it
the other direction. Keep it well
greased. Wouldn't hurt to smear a bit of
grease on those rusty splines either.
It's called an ORC. Over Running Clutch.

ah cool. ok, yeah, I think I'll hit that spline with some WD-40 and a wire brush, [i:edda337c9b]then [/i:edda337c9b]grease it...

Also because of the length of it be sure your PTO shaft on your implement is cut short enough so it's not bottomed on itself.
