Thermostat?

so I'm changing the radiator and hoses on my early 8N front distributor model... much as I've always done when I do this on an older car of mine, I ordered a new thermostat...

huh, there IS no thermostat in there now??

so, I put it in the top port on the head, with the pointy end towards the radiator, and the hose and water flow direction holds it in place? I'm assuming the coolant flows from the pump into the bottom of the radiator, then out the top and into the head?

the thermostats came with a metal band clamped around the hose to hold them in place. a regular hose clamp will do - or here's one using a zip tie.

yeah, just figured that out. old crunchy hose had metal band but no thermostat inside. pushed thermostat into new hose (TIGHT!) and secured with a black tie wrap (black ones last longer outdoors).

Flow is just the opp[site ,From the radiator to water pump through the block and out the top hose on the head tp radiator.

oh, ok. i was basing my assumption on the angle of the pipe from the pump without examining it to closely.

so just to be absolutely sure here, the thermostat goes in with the pointy end towards the radiator, and the 'can' shaped end towards the head ?
