I have a 2N that I can’t get started. I have been working on it for a couple of weeks and it is becoming frustrating.
This past winter I converted it to 12 Volts with new plugs and has run like a champ until now.
It started running rough and I noticed I was throwing antifreeze. Radiator was about 1/2 gallon low. I parked it and the next day I attempted to start it after refilling the radiator . It turns over fine but won’t fire.
I replaced the water pump. And notice the distributor and coil were damp with antifreeze. I did a good cleaning.
I eventually replaced the distributor (it had some corrosion) and the plug wires (the end came off one) The rotor, condenser and points. I also replace the coil as some test I performed (based on several forum suggestions) showed that it may be bad.
The ignition switch has continuity and I am getting 12 v at the post at the top of the coil when the ignition switch is on. I don’t see any spark both with a spark checker and direct ground to the block.
Many years ago when I replaced points I had a direct short causing it not to fire. These points have not been touched until I replaced them just now, so they should knothole been shorted. I am reasonably certain the new points are not shorted.
I am pretty much at wits end, and the wife would like the 2N out of the garage.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
