WHAT CAN I POUR IN TO FREE UP A STUCK MOTOR AND GO ABOUT TO FREE IT UP ?

Do not attempt to turn the engine over. You could break the rings if they are rusted to the cylinder walls. Pull all plugs, add a cup or more of automatic transmission fluid (ATF ) or Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO) in each cylinder. Pull both valve covers & soak everything w/ MMO or ATF. Scrub it all down w/ a wire brush. Then, start looking for mouse/hornet nests in places like the tail pipe & carb breather hose. Wait at least 2 or 3 days before you do anything, then try & hand crank the engine. (w/o spark plugs) If it does not turn by hand, repeat everything you just did, ie, more MMO or ATF. If it still won’t turn by hand, remove the starter (see tip # 36) and use a BF screwdriver or jack handle on the ring gear teeth to try & turn it over.

Also if you add a little acetone to the ATF it will help it penetrate things

If you don't know how long it was stuck, it may be in your best interest to pull the head. I knew I was going to get mine running because it was given to me by a family friend whose father died. It sat for about 30 years. The father gave it to me before he died. I did not want to sink a lot of money in it, so I pulled the head and poured ATF in the cylinders. I used a 4x4 and a 32 oz. ball pien hammer to pop each piston every night for about a month (patience is the key). Eventually I used a big pry bar on the ring gear after I removed the starter and it popped loose. It runs great with very little smoke.

If it is a 9/2/8N flathead motor, more than llikely the valves are stuck in the guides so pouring any amount of anything in the bores wil not help.

Pull the tappet covers and have a look.

$$$$$. Nobody likes a smart A$$ but that is the only thing that I found to dump into stuck motors. The others have given good advice.
