Melling Oil Pump Repair Kit

I was surfing O'Reilly's web site looking at 1942 Ford 1/2 ton 2.0L motor parts . I saw a Melling oil pump repair kit . Wondering if anyone here has used one . I know Melling is/was a top manufacturer in oil pumps . Don't know if they make these gears or they all come from the same almost right parts supplier . $40.99 but that may not be a bad price if they are perfect . ( I see them on ebay for $16 - $25 , NOS )

Noticed the offered only rod bearings, had std. .[b:51cdd867d4][color=red:51cdd867d4]002[/color:51cdd867d4][/b:51cdd867d4] , .010 .020 .030 .040 .

I did go to Rock Auto and ordered 5 Fel Pro head gaskets 7277B for $6.64 each ($45.56 total w/ shipping and tax ) :wink:
 

I run from Rock auto sometimes you find a gem there... When folks lost it over those 180 deg thermostats I found them on rock auto dirt cheap but I knew what they originally were used in so knew how to look them up and that's the key to it... Thanks for the tip : )
 
Good info. Thanks! Found this at several suppliers for less than 40, including Summit. These must be the 9/16 gears because they're for the the 1942 pickup - right?

I think the word has gotten around to most suppliers that the cheap kits they were selling were junk. I just received two more of these a couple days ago. Ordered from a long time seller, same old familiar packaging, and both checked out fine.

The gears probably are 9/16,but Ford usually used parts from one motor to fit lots of other motors. Maybe the "support" on their site[or if you're close to a store] can help. I got one from this site some years ago,then got sick and didn't put it on until about 2 weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised when it started up and had lots of oil pressure. The motor on a '42 truck is supposedly identical to a 9n,as is a model A.
