So I have identified I have a bad gasket on the oil pan of my 1949 8N ford. At first I thought it was my governor, but got that all cleaned up and it is fine. There is actually part of the oil pan gasket sticking out, which is where I assume it might be ripped and leaking.
While I know the correct way to fix it would be to replace it, I don't have the time to tear off the front end and replace.
I had a mechanic suggest that I try sealing it with a "gasket maker" from the outside.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Other ideas? Waste of time?
