I have a older friend that is getting rid of his old 2N that hasn't run in several years but did have the motor rebuilt 20 years ago but not a lot of hours on the rebuild "he said" . The tractor sheet metal is in good shape Rear tires are OK could use a couple front tires . Its still 6 volt also. Oil was clean but no antifreeze i could see when i open the cap. Is there any advise y'all could give me on this tractor and from what i described maybe what it would be worth. I dont need this tractor at all I have 2 tractors already. But I will take it if the price is right but I dont know what that right price would be. Thanks for any advise

How well the "Engine was rebuilt" is about the same as asking, "How long is a string".
Unless the seller can describe in intimate detail, HOW the engine was rebuilt, buyer beware.
I paid $1000.00 for my 2N in 1987 and ran the ever-loving daylights out of it with only minor maintenance until last winter when I gave it a precision valve job.
I paid $1000.00 for my 8N which came with a bunch of implements in 2010.
I subsequently nicknamed the 8N, (The Junk-pile)
I didn't look close enough and it came with a LONG-LONG list of critical needed repairs.
Take your time and look the tractor over carefully.
Take a can of WD-40 and a few red rags and carefully, slowly wipe clean the engine block below the head. Look for cracks in the block from the head down to the pan.
I mention this because you mentioned no coolant.
For me, I would give that tractor (without a cracked block) a value of $400.00 - $1200.00 +
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine!

I agree with others. If he can't start it on his property, $500 max.
I paid $1500 for a running '46 2N with 4 implements 11 years ago. Dirt scoop, terracing blade, 2 bottom, one-way plow.
I just rebuilt the engine this spring because of low compression.

A man that I know works at a metal recycling yard and told me that a few running tractors that look like my 9n come in each month for scrap.

Do the Mags go out on those things very often and if so are they very pricey. I havent look at much about the 2N at all. And I
need this tractor like i need another hole in my head especially one that dont run. I probably should be shot for even
considering even buying it. But it is a Old Tractor and needs to be Saved. Even the implements are old. I think i will offer 1200
for all of it and just see what happens. i think thats on the higher side of what its worth and i would feel like i gave the
gentleman a good deal . Thanks for the advise

The implements he has are. 2 dirt scoops, terracing plow, a disc , finish mower that looks pretty ugly, scrape blade that looks even uglier, single point chisel plow that has something welded on it for a chisel tooth pretty much usless and a 7 foot spring chisel plow. And has jack type of tool that actually lifts the tractor so you can work on a tire. fits under the tractor and as you pull up it picks it up somehow.

Unlikely tractor has a magneto, unless a wartime machine, or swapped out.

Its got a magneto. Its on the front of the engine kind of on say passenger side with the wires coming from it going to the plugs.
Is a 1946 2n Not supposed to have a magneto

Ok I went to the ford 2n parts on here and didn't find a magneto but did see what the cap looked like . Im pretty sure you are
correct maybe i didn't look at it quite had enough. I even ask the the guy does this thing have a magneto and he said yes. Then
as i recall he also said he had remembered putting points in it also. I guess i better go look closer this weekend. I do need to
see if the engine will turn anyways . Thank you for that info

A 1946 should not have a magneto unless it was modified using an older machine. It originally had a front distributor, 6V generator and electric starter.

(quoted from post at 18:40:35 07/24/20)..... I even ask the the guy does this thing have a magneto and he said yes

Front mount distributor has been confused as a magneto, to those unfamiliar

Then as i recall he also said he had remembered putting points in it also

Magneto's have points, along with a condenser and a coil. All inside the mag. Just don't need an external power supply (battery) to them as they generate their own current
