I know this is a highly debated topic but I'd like to get some opinions anyway.

One supplier calls for red to be TP2822 Vermillion red for early models and the TP480 New Holland red is for later models.

Another supplier calls for TP2822 Vermillion red for 58-64 models and TP480 New Holland red is for 48-57 models.

New Holland parts counter calls for Red 956 for 39-62 models.

Who, if any, are correct???

I used the later "New Holland" red and compared to others I've parked next to, I think it is a lighter tint. But, I am a bit color blind and I also think it looks fine just as it is. I don't expect it to be a competition anyway.

I would recommend you look at the paint colors recommended on this site. New Holland has discontinued many of the original Ford paint colors and used substitute colors. For example the TP480 is a New Holland equipment color.

I used Rustoleum Sunrise Red with hardener, which was a reasonably close match to the original red inside my air cleaner. I hand-tinted my own grey, as the TSC shade was too light and cool.

I've kept the tractor shedded, and the paint has held up well over 12+ years of hard work so far.

I used PPG paints
PPG 32675 Ford Gray
PPG 70075 Vermillion Red
PPG 8568 Silver Gray some call it Argent Silver for
rear rims

Thanks for the piks. Sunrise red looks very good.

To Mark,
Thanks for the links. I've looked at YT's paint offerings before and like I said in original post, them and another well known supplier out of North Carolina completely disagree with one another in what paint is to be used for a 49 model. I know one can use whatever color one feels like to paint their tractor. But you'd think the suppliers would agree on what color is for year model range. So I'm like who's right and who's wrong.

Vermilion is correct for 48 to '57. '58 to 64 should be orange red. Fiat is not interested in antique Ford tractor colors. It is a lot easier for them if we all just use one shade.

(quoted from post at 20:20:23 08/04/20) Vermilion is what I'm planning on using. Would it be wise to use a hardener or not?

Hayes 49, when using any bright color it is highly advisable to use hardener.
