Block drive Gear Thrust pt#8n4194

It bolted to rear of axle housing (on the inside)
I cant see where it doing anything and don't see it in manual but you
can see them on ebay
Any one know what this part does?
 
As the pinion gear turns the ring gear the forces push the entire differential towards the left. Normally the bearing on that side is capable of handling that leftward thrust.
I can not say with authority but suspect Ford added that thrust block in case that left hand bearing began to fail. It would keep those leftward forces from completely grenading the ring and pinion.
Ford used that same style thrust block on all their tractors with single reduction rear ends through at least 1983 that I know of.
