8N, throttle non-responsive, but runs at full speed

Hi all. I've got myself an old 8N. I went to use it after it had been sitting for a few months. Battery was dead, so I swapped it out, and while I was at it, I redid all the battery wiring... That seems to be fine. However when I started her up, she runs like a bat out of hell. I went to bring down the throttle and no change... I had to tweak the jet, to stop her from running so high, I'm not using her, I need to troubleshoot and fix it first.

Anyways, all the linkages seem to be moving freely, but the throttle seems to have no effect on her RPMs she just creams. Any ideas?

Thanks all.

Oh, I forgot to mention, after I replaced the battery, the solenoid would just click, but she would not turn over, so I bridged the terminals to get her to turn over... She starts up Everytime now, no problems... I don't know if that would have anything to do with the issues I'm having...

Thanks

r10y You should be able to grab the carb to governor rod and slow it down by hand.If not the butterfly screws could have fallen out and the butterfly fell loose. If so remove the carb for a look see.

Have you pulled the carb throttle shaft
out recently? If yes, its really easy to
put it back in wrong, with the throttle
plate up in the front. Throttle plate
should angle down twards the front
(radiator ) at idle. If in wrong, its
either idle, or full throttle.

Thanks, I have not taken anything apart... Besides swapping out the battery and it's lines... But thanks for the reply
