Nowadays, which 5' shredder brand mates up well with the 8n? I'll use the rooster comb chain limiter to set heights. Hydraulics are in good shape overall. Trying to stay around 500-600 lbs.

Woods is a good brand. For the most part "mating up" goes by size, while performance and longevity depend on other parameters.

You are wise to look for a light one. Like you I would not go above 600 Lbs.

Most of the lkow cost brands are within your weight limit.

Name brands, Bush Hog, Woods, Land Pride, etc., offer light, medium and HD models, and most of the light duty models should come in around 600 Lbs.

I'm partial to Woods but Woods and BH are likely to be the most expensive.

I just bought a rotary cutter for my 2n. I got a King Kuter 60 inch mower. I payed around $1100 to $1200 for it. It weighs 525lbs. I also installed the limiter chains on the mower. The tractor seems to
handle the mower alright. It seems to handle 1 inch sumac and tall grass and thistles fairly well. On the sumac I just used half a width pass. I've only used it a couple of time so I can't say how it's going
to hold up. The only complaint I have is the low gear is a little to fast on rough terrain. But on ground with no gopher holes it works just fine. When I bought the tractor a couple years ago it was
painted like a 8n. The engine has a 8n cast on the block. But it has a 2n transmission. Make sure you put an overrun clutch on the PTO. If you don't when you step on the clutch and brake the tractor
will keep moving. I would think with the 8n's lower gear you will like it. Dale
