At the lake and cannot take a picture of my 51. If you use a plastic tube to fill I found it helpful to cut off about quarter inch of the bottom half of the end of the tube. That way you can push the tube all the way in the hole untill it bottoms out and the oil can still come out the bottom cut into the fill hole.(quoted from post at 20:33:22 06/30/20) JB,

That is correct bolt hole. I think it is Bruce, 75 tips, that recommends using a wire to find the hole. It is a slow process. I found the tube allows air to escape unlike just sticking the lube oil bottle nipple into the hole. I think I added a pint before it started to overflow. Takes a little effort to hold tube and squeeze bottle at the same time!

On later 8n right side behind the proofmeter.
The spare column is just sitting on the rear of the tractor for the pic. Oil flowes through the bolt hole following the blue line. It has to make a 90 deg bend into a smaller passage, before draining into the sump.
I haven't tried filling recently, but would expect it to be a slow process.

I have looked at a lot of informationr= regarding putting oil in the steering gearbox on an 8N. At one time there was a removable screw on the steering column
to add oil. Screw was below the steering wheel. 8N we have does not have the screw. Picture included seems to be the screw that is removed to add oil .

Thanks, again!(quoted from post at 17:17:55 07/22/20) Hi Alan, There is no drain hole to empty old oil. When the fill hole won't take any more oil, thats the correct level, and put the bolt back in. Remember that as oil goes in, air has to escape.
