9N governor setting

Can someone confirm this. It is my understanding that the fixture and setting gauge are not required to ensure the .220-.230" spacing is correct. Check with a caliper and if too large add some shims and if to small take some out? Not sure implications of too large or small. Seems if gap is too large balls could contact housing. Not sure of affect to throttle operation.

In my recent experience, too large a gap
can cause excessive engine speed. Also, a
caliper will get you the correct gap. I
just did mine last week and used my
caliper as I dont have a ford jig. If
it's a amazon governor, check to make sure
the fork on the shaft the arms are on is
facing the right direction. Mine was
wrong out of the box and caused quite the
headache until another member on here
advised me to check it.
