When I pick up an implement with my 2N the lift arms chatter then lift to full up. The arms work ok after that but there is still chatter lifting from full
down. Where do I start? I bought all of the recommended manuals but don’t see a definite answer.

Can you talk me out of taking the whole thing apart? (I know I should)

Thanks
Zeke

When the N lift is jerky coming up it means that one or more of the four pump cylinders is not pumping. It can be caused by broken springs in the pump chambers or a broken Scotch yoke in the pump that the pistons are attached to. Either one means the pump will need to be removed from the tractor to fix.

Can also be caused by muck in the valve chambers, which is probably the most common cause.

Our 2N would do the same thing, but just once in awhile.
Then it would clear up on it's own.
I always suspected a stuck valve, but was never sure.
I've been changing hyd fluid a bit more often (not every 20 yrs) and I cant remember the last time it chattered.

I had a similar issue. Had a valve stack hanging up. The shaft that had the binding valves is scuffed up and the spring seemed to have been compressed.
