This is for you guys that use string trimmers. After you do a couple hours of that crap, remember how your pants used to look with the weed guts embedded in them?

Well, a thought struck me. I used to work in a place that used rolls of plastic tube. It was 12" wide. I forget what we even did with the stuff now, but I thought, wouldn't that stuff be great to use as leggings to slip over your pants while weed eating? So I found a roll of the stuff at "Uline.com". It works GREAT !

Below you see some pics before and after. It was hard to get a good shot of all the crap on the "chaps", but you weed eater guys know what I'm talking about. The first picture shows the Green pretty good. The picture of my clean pants shows how good it works.

I just cut off a length of the stuff that fits a little lower that my pants on my boots. Then I cut a 13" slit along the side so they would pull up past my crotch. For me it was 13". I used a couple report clips to clip them to my waist band.

The great thing is that when you're done weed eating for the day, just slip them off and throw them away.

(quoted from post at 05:00:08 06/17/20) Congratulations you invented gators.

Congratulations, you just made a fool of yourself. Check out this link and you will see what gators are and what they are used for.

They don't come above the knee and most importantly, they are not disposable. I suppose you could throw them away after each use but that might get expensive.

The plastic sleeves are for protecting your pants legs all the way up to your crotch. They are not for keeping sand or water or weather out of your shoes. The picture of my pants after weed eating proves that they work.

Good idea, Cary. Thanks for sharing!

I learned the hard way to pay attention to how the trimmer's head rotates. Straight shaft trimmers tend to turn counter-clockwise. Curved shaft ones turn clockwise.

When started using a straight shaft trimmer I found using my right hand to run the gas let it paint my left leg with cuttings. Just like in your picture.

I learned to use my left hand to run the gas and there's much less stuff hitting me. The cuttings are thrown away from me.

My $.02. :D
