8N Axle Weights

I recently purchased a 1948 8N fresh out of the barn. It has axle weights inside the fenders.

Can someone out there give me an honest, "ballpark" value of these weights. I never see them anywhere for sale, and can't find any that recently sold when a search
is done.

That's a tough one.
As you said, a guy doesn't see them often enough to have much to measure by.
No Ford style weights are going down in price though.
Asking price for pie weights is approaching $.80 to even $.90/lb.
Front wheel weights getting close to that too.
Front bumper weights I'd guess are More than $1/lb.
Run of the mill rear wheel weights, of which there are several types are at least $.60-$.75/lb.
I would guess your axle weights fall in that $.60-$.70 price range too.
I kinda have a cast iron weight fetish.
Have owned a number of them over the years but never a set of those axle weights.
What do yours weigh?
I think the ultimate Ford weights would be a set of fender weights. They are shaped like a fender but made of cast iron. Maybe 500? lbs each.
I just cleaned up and brush primed these "Pillow" weights last week.
Working on another mid 1960s Ford here and will put these on it when I get the tractor done.

There are a couple of different axle weights so it would depend on which ones you have. There is an axle weight that is basically a horseshoe shape goes over the axle and hang down a bit below the axle. These I can't give you a price or weight because I have not owned them. If you are talking about the weights in the photo I have several sets and have sold sets. I usually sell for $200/$250. The flat top weights usually weigh 150/160 lbs each. The round top weights are 170/180 lbs each. They are all aftermarket. I've had some that had the Farm hand tag on them. The flat tops are more common. If you have the ones with the indentations on the bottom (on left in second photo) they are made to also fit later models such as the hundred series and thousand series. Indented to sit on top of the axle nuts on the end of the trumpet. Since they will fit the N models and the later models they could be a bit higher in value. Usually most people are looking to add weight in the winter, at least in my area, so it might bring a higher price at that time good luck with your sale. Of course prices can vary depending on your location.

I have a set of the heavier ones. As I recall I paid $250 for the pair. It was some 200 miles round trip to pick them up. It has been close to 10 years since I made the purchase.
