Tweety sparks

Finally got around to the 8N this afternoon after fixing the injectors on the idi turbo diesel other Ford.
Pulled the engine block drain and then waited for the green to stop gurgling. Pulled the dip stick and the starter.
Pulled it all apart and then checked for a bench test short and found none.
Stuck relay? It's not pretty and the cable is vastly undersized. So I found another starter and relay and in about a week, those should be installed and then I try again to crank this over. I should thread in the old plugs just to keep out the ...?
The next week will be good clean up time for everything else.
The quarter in the photo shows the cable size in comparison. See any problems? Ground cable the same size.

I am so very grateful that we have have an alternator / generator / starter rebuilder shop that has been in business for several decades here in Salem Oregon.
You just walk in, drop it on the counter, fill out a slip and pick it up a week later in unbelievably pristine, new condition for a reasonable price.
WAY, WAY better than after market junk.

I have seen a few rebuild shops that are equal to the aftermarket in a lot of ways.
I figured to roll the dice either way.

t
here is a shop in Forest Grove that has a good rep.

$103 for the Amazon starter & relay chinese virus imitation starter. I am currently playing with this web site and an exhaust system on a
Golds Demonstrator. I usually wind up at Forest Grove Iron and Steel when I go that direction.
On another note we got 5100 trees planted, Doug Fir. I won't be alive to see them at harvest maturity. We need 3200 to survive 7
years to keep the forest tax deferral. Best case scenario will be a thinning operation in a few more years. Worst case, replant at about a
buck a tree. Fun part on replanting is the younger trees are more resistant to a dry season. Deer and elk LOVE to eat them. Older taller
seedlings are NOT resistant to a dry season but the elk and deer leave them alone for the most part.
Which one do YOU plant? Plus the older trees are generally grow faster than the weeds get taller and don't get choked out.
Taller is also more money.
Tractors are a toy with 5100 Doug Fir taking up most of the space.

Plant them trees!!

Starter place is just west of forest grove iron on same street. I believe it is I&G electrical.

Having a reliable starter/gernerator rebuilder nearby is great. Unfortunately, over the past 50 years I
have had to search for rebuilders as older ones close.
There were two within 8 miles of me at first. They closed.
I found another one about 20 miles away. It closed.
I used one in Toledo, 40 miles. It closed.
I found one about 30 miles from me. It closed.
I have not needed any rebuilt resently and have a few rebuilts on the shelf.
