39''-40'' 9n distributor inquiry

So in an attempt to finish the 12v electrical system upgrade on my 9n (the charging system is done and functional) I remove the distributor and 6v coil. While doing a visual inspection and cleaning of the inner works of the distributor it appeared that they were original. The distributor cam weight assembly was very sloppy in the bushings and there were obvious wear features to the hardened steel cross slides, pins and shaft from the little leaf springs on the counter weights. I then proceeded to order an electronic ignition 12v conversion kit, bushings and a new distributor cam and weights assembly (as my 4 year old son begs me for a tractor ride) I receive the new parts and there are some differences in the cam and weight assemblies. The old part seems to have an oil gallery down the middle of the shaft, while the new one only has a little hole drilled in it and the oiler groove that goes into the big bushing is half the size in the new one, along with some other differences. I would very much like some technical information on lengths and diameters. so modifications can be done if necessary. Does anyone have copies of the original part makers technical drawings?

Best I can do:

Distributor shaft size:

Small end is ground to .4367/.4370" dia.

Large end (base) is ground to .8625/.8630" dia.

The bushing in the base is burnished to .8635/.8640" dia.

Breaker plate assy bushing is burnished to .4373/.4378" dia.

In order to get my 2N running properly again before I sold it like you did I pulled the distributor apart and discovered cracked weights, worn pivot holes and pins, and other ailments. Sticking with the 6V system I elected to replace the entire distributor. This gave me new points/condenser/cap and all new gaskets and the difference in how it ran was impressive.

I'm sure you will find the same performance gain when your conversion is complete. Your son will like it too.

This site sells the bushings, but it's been about 10 years and I don't know the current state of their quality. Mine fit
perfectly and are still working well. Good luck.
