camgear replace as a set? 9N

When replacing camshaft gear does it need to be replaced as as set with the crank gear? I am think not seeing the crank gear is steel and cam gear is aluminum.

I don't think they do. I didn't on mine. I would think that if they were supposed to be, there would be a note to that effect on the parts site.

Well how about using a used aluminum cam gear?

I think that is all there is, I got two with the alum cam gear and have had no problems at all.

No as long as you understand there may be some gear whine... I have never had a whine issue on a N but have on other engines...

Aluminum OK YES...
