I must have burned somthing. I have been jump starting my '51 8n with my 12v truck because the 6volt attery is dead. it worked good for several days miltiple times each day. But now it does not even click? My guess i ignorantly have burned up something. what coulld it be and how do i check it? i have vom. tools etc. and can follow mechinical directions.
thank you, jmc

sorry found it,,, no I didn't do it that way. i went battery to battery. fortunate i did not blow something UP! But now oit all seems dead. i will go thy it per tip 43.

I jumpe it that way but no response when i jumpe to the wire into the starter switch. but it is kinda flaky any way i have to hit it several times to get it to start. I guess i should hold the hot wire on the input and still hit the button woith the side of my hand as always befoe? i will do that thenks Jim

I tried that but it does not make starter turn over. I put the hot hot jump wire on the starter lug and it turns motor over but engine doesn't fire at all.
does + jumper wire need to go to tractor frame and - go to input wire to starter switch input wire? jmc

Switching - to ground on frame sis notheing still starter does not turn from start switch with jumper on switch input? any suggestkons on what else i might do to get tractor running again now? thanks Jim

If your 6v battery is truly dead, your tractor will not start no matter how fast the starter spins over even if you are jumping it correctly per tip # 43.

Because..............

The jumper battery is not providing power to the coil. You need some charge in your 6v battery to do that.

See tips 49 and 60. If your battery is dead and will not charge, the original 6V battery is Group Size 1 - 9-1/8 (L) x 7-1/8 (W) x 9-3/8 (H).

I certainly apreciatr your help. I got her running and finished plowing my garden plot. Hot coil accured to me but i did know how to do that so i just jumped it on the batterey being careful. once it is cranked it runs good. I had already did ignition tune up and carburature tank and blow out. i guess i will change out the start switch my hand is getting sore from hitting it. And invest ia new 6 volt bat as i have already tuned up the 6 volt dist, plugs wires etc.
thanks again. Jim
