Noises cannot be diagnosed in a chat forum.

That said, I would suggest that you verify proper ignition at all 4 spark plugs before doing anything else.

Hello Guys,

Re.: Slapping noise when tractor under load. I will check for proper ignition, and maybe put a timing light to test it. But that tractor runs so great and starts up like electronic ignition with no hesitation. I gotta pipe I can use as a stethascope to hear internal noises near the # 4 cylinder. And I'll check for exhaust leaks where both pipes join together. I bought new exhaust pipe several years ago, and used aluminum foil as a gasket to seal that joint better, so perhaps it may be coming from there. I retorqued the head last night since I just installed a new head gasket because of water leaking into the #2 cylinder and a lot of antifreeze in the oil, and changed that aloong w/ filter. I'll check the hydralic pump valve for noises there too. I'll let you guys know what I find. Thanks for all your input; it's appreciated.

Lastly, how do I switch the forum to Modern View...can't find it?
