Valve nightmare

Got a couple Engine projects running concurrently...47 2n engine...sat a while...but in great shape...had a couple stuck valves...but the valves and seats looked pristine...
gotta save them right?...oh no!!
These valves had some strange keepers...a trumpet like end and what I found out were 2 piece valve guides
..short story?... My conventional valve Spring compressor would not work on those keepers... I tried everything...I even ground down the jaws to a finer point to see if I could catch the spring right above the keeper....My Scottish ire kicked in last night at 1030 pm....tourched the dang springs
..keepers and drove the valves all the way up..
and then with a long, fat, punch...drove out the valve guides one half at a time!..ordering that 160.00 valve kit today!!!
Fun meter is still pegged!!!

"These valves had some strange keepers...a trumpet like end and what I found out were 2 piece valve guides". Not 'strange', just the way Ford made them in those days.

JMOR!...just new to me!

oes the $160 kit include adj lifters?

I posted on another post not to fret heat the spring push up on it, it will collapse the keepers will fall out remove the valve drive the guild out... It supersized me how little heat it took to take the tension out of the spring...

New springs are cheap but not my time...

I am under the assumption the 9/2N's require a longer spring no mater what set up you use if not they list a different part number for them... Dan are Jeb2N ran into this issue it should be in the archives...

78-6513 Years:1939-48 Spring (Valve) Used Up To SN# 8N42162

8N6513 Years:1948-52 Spring (Valve)

78-6513 Is a longer spring...
