Only had my 8n for 6 mths and noticed when I have the hydraulic lift all the way up with my shredder on it and disengage the PTO and shut off the tractor the Hydraulic Lift with the shredder lowers. A neighbor told me it should remain raised until I lower the lever, he said there must be a leak in the gaskets or bushings.
Should it stay raised? Or do they all lower when you disengage the PTO and shut the tractor off?

It "should" stay up but very few do. So how long does it take for yours to leak all the way down?

A leak. Most will be ram piston/cylinder, but if it isn't interfering with your use, simpley ignore it.

It lowers quickly but I am guessing that is in part to the heavy shredder I aways have on it. Is it worth repairing? My neighbor said he would give me a hand.

You should never leave it raised in the first place, as long as it stays up while you are using it, I do not see it as a problem.

If you can raise and transport it without issues I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like it's only an issue when you park it and leaving a heavy implement raised is not a good idea anyway.
