Durable Electronic Proofmeter?

Hello,
I have a 1948 8N with a 6 cylinder. Is there a preferred profmeter that will hold up to the elements? It must be able to read a 6 cylinder.
Thanks

Do you want an hour meter or tachometer?

Didn't know if an electrical unit existed or not. Still looking at what distributors with a mechanical tachdrive I can have cut down to fit the H Series 226.

Yes there is but that is not what I asked. If I find something I'll post it and hopefully get hands on feedback.

Electronic Proofmeter

OEM Proofmeters were not electronic, only mechanical. They have 5 functions, 4 are all to do with speed, and 1 is an hour meter, and driven off the governor.

Yes I know. I am not sure if you guys are attempting to embarrass me or if you truly do not understand what the question is. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

As most all of US that have made a carrier in the repair field know there are many different types of gauges out there. I simply asked if the aftermarket is making an electronic profmeter that is a replacement for the OEM mechanical. I have not found one nor does it appear any of the readers have either. It may simply not exist.

What you want is something to REPLACE a Proofmeter, that is electronic.

There ain't none. The Proofmeter is simply a mechanical tachometer with markings to tell you when the RPM are in the range suggested for doing particular tasks.

The closest that you could some up with would be a list of those RPM/task combinations, and your electronic tach.

Yeah that is all explained in my previous post. Seems folks tend to catch on slow when they do not read ALL of the post. Even got a few answers that didn't have questions.

I read all of the post and to be honest at times my first impression will change by the time I get done reading. Not ashamed to admit I don't always get the point though.

hat's OK, as all electronics is good for is to fail & be non-repairable! Hey, I am a 30 year practicing electronics engineer. Just look around, computers, wi-fi, Boeing 737 MAX, and on and on!!! If it has software, it will be a disaster, especially if auto-update is turned on.

That's funny  I needed to replace an older TV in the family room last month and i was browsing the TV aisle on my weekly trip to Sam's when a comely young thing walked up and asked if she could help. Naturally I said yes. The next question was did I want a Smart TV?. You know me, that question took us down a rabbit hole on what was and wasn't a "smart" TV. She eventually left me to my own devices and moved on to a customer with easier questions.

I have a 60" "dumb" TV in the downstairs family room and wound up with an LG on the basis of price for a 65" screen and picture quality. I must say their WebOS user interface and the "magic remote" are less than intuitive. I do however love the WiFi connectivity and I have been watching a lot of free content via my ISP. I feel another assimilation coming on - Dish may be on life support.....

fter several days and at least 4 hours cumulative with Samsung 'help' on both internet chat & telephone, the best they ever came up with is, "the WI-FI in televisions isn't as strong as in computers & cell phones", so your wireless access point at 15 feet away from TV is too far, we recommend no more that 6 feet!!!!??? After all this, I finally ran an ethernet cable to place wireless access point 2 feet from TV, and it worked! So, then I moved it ~2 feet away each time & at ~5 feet, OK, but at 7-8 feet, intermittent signal loss & at 10 feet total disconnect! Asked friend with Samsung & he has pretty much same experience. I'm in the process of running cable direct to TV from cable modem, even though a cable from wireless access point device to TV works. For best coverage of whole house, I need the wireless access point more centralized.

That has to be the worst wireless receiver ever made. I'm assuming the TV is new. If so and it were mine I would be taking it back and I NEVER take things back.

Smart TV in the bedroom about 20 feet away from the WiFi. Works fine.

Seems at least some smart TVs have decent WiFi parts.

i dumped directv several years ago. even tho my internet connection is marginal - it's a wireless thing with a cap of 10 mbit (when all the stars are aligned perfectly) - literally about 99% of what i watch now is online.

my TV is more of a decoration than a source of things to watch these days.
