New to this forum but have learned enough to from you guys to be dangerous so far. I have 51 Ford 8n and have converted to 12volt system. I have always noticed sometimes my starter didn't engage right away so I checked the ringgear and found some worn spots. I still work fill time and have 5 young kids so am trying to get some money saved before changing it out this summer. I guess what I am asking is what else should I plan on changing while I have the tractor split. My clutch is strong but do have some leaking from front and rear main seals. Thanks for all the help so far

DSJ6811,I would try a new style starter drive first as they engage so much better.

Not much you can do during a split about the front and rear seals leaking, but you can replace the front seal on the trans and the throw out bearing and the pilot bearing.
