Guys, keep in mind I have gone blind and forgotten everything I used to know.

How do I increase the wide open/operating speed of the engine?

connect the throttle directly to the carb instead of via the governor.

I'm speaking of how to adjust the carburetor and/or governor to get more engine speed.

It will likely help you get better answers if you tell exactly what machine you are asking about and what you have to check the engine speed with.

FO-4 has a good description of how to do that, MAX RPM is 2200 by the way. turn max speed screw out to increase speed.
