As a person that owns a 8N and am slowly working on it, and spring is around the corner, I just have a couple of question to ask. Being above the 49th that also bring a few more problems into the mix. Since this winter has been mild, very little snow, hasn't been running to much. Is it normal when turning on the gas valve, the gas seems to be flowing very fast into the glass bowl, like it is filling up the carb, is that a float needle valve problem? other wise it runs good and no fuel leaks any where.

To answer your question, yes the needle and seat aren't seating. My 2N and NAA can sit for months with the valve turned off and the glass bowl stays full.

Both my N's do that after sitting.

If you do not have any leaks, the gas is probably evaporating out of the carb and it has to be refilled when you open the valve. I run my tractor with the valve off and let it run till the carb is empty, nice thing about having a magneto on it. Shut off gas and walk away. By the time I get to the house it dies.
