Making progress on 2N

Making progress. Hood is primed to prevent surface rust, and I need to sand the bondo. My hood is pretty roasted. Really no saving it, and I don t want to spend the money on a new hood and grill assembly. So for now I ll make do with body filler.

Chassis is painted, waiting on drag links, alternator and wiring.
Hoping to have it done in two or three weeks. I only work on it on the weekends for about 4-5 hours each day.
I ll miss the antique pull meet this year. The tractor will be done, but I won t have a drawbar mount or weights in time. I don t expect to be competitive with an N series tractor, but I don t want to spin tires 50 feet into a pull due to a 2100 pound machine. Lightest weight class here is 3,000 lb.

Looks great. I like the darker gray. They should have a pulling class for N's only, sure are enough of them around to draw a few in to pull. Seems I recall an N only show in Illinois?

Look for a club that pulls a 2500 lb class. Or get enough people to pull in that class and as long as the sled is light enough they'll make a 2500 lb class. That's what we did last
year at one club. They ain't going to turn down the hook fee. Your kind of undergunned with the 2n in the 3000 lb class. For pullin with the N I would have switch out the rear center
housing to the 8n housing for use of the under belly drawbar. With the 2n housing you could make up a bracket like this one for an under belly mount. I built this Ratty NAA for
pullin in the 2500 lb class. Worked out the bugs and took 1st in the last four pulls of the year. If you are on facebook there's an antique ford pulling club. Nice bunch of guys.
Most pulling with row crops but I think a couple pull with the N's.

A friend of mine stopped over the other day and gave me a gear shift knob he made up for my puller. "Accessories are key when building a successful pulling tractor"

the only pull i ever go to is an antique pull with the FFA a few counties north of me. its all for fun for the most part. i may get involved later, for now i will just watch. i am not involved with pulling, and did not know the n series was so light until a few days ago.

hood is prepped and primed. i used body filler on the rust. first time using filler, i shaped with a dremel and palm sander. from five feet its going to look dang good. should paint the hood tomorrow, hoping to set the hood on Sunday and drive it around the yard. my parts order came in, save for 1 drag link. i may toss the old back on just to be able to run the tractor while i wait for the new link

I sprayed the hood today, I am mixing the Trisco paint with naphtha at 4:1 ratio. I had planned to use those Preval paint sprayers and I have to say I am completely dissatisfied with the results. The paint is either uneven and dry or too wet and running. It could be my fault but I wish I had just used rattle cans. I ll let the paint cure over the week and wet sand the runs.
If I can t get a satisfactory finish I ll sand it all back off and order a case of rattle cans.
Mounted the alternator today, and found out my tractor is missing the ignition resistor, do not know how it was running without it when I bought it.

As I am getting closer to completion, progress seems to be slowing down.
