Winter Project Week 11 - tin work

Worked on the fenders and dog legs this week. Discovered I can't sand too much or I'll have no tin left! Bottoms of the fenders are swiss cheese. I used some filler on them best I could but these will never be perfect. So they are as good as they are going to get.

Pic is after I primed first coat in gray. I'll use some scotch brite on them and then recoat in red primer so I can see where the high spots are. Hope to get painted early next week, I need to be in Phoenix next weekend so the paint will be good and dry by the time I'm back. I'm anxious to get the fenders and canopy frame on the tractor. Then turn it around and work on the hood. I'm sure it will be rotted as well. I'm seeing the end of this project in March, I plan to take the Ford on the first tractor ride in May.

I did take a walk thru the sheds looking at projects and thinking about what next. '50 Farmall Cub needs painted, '67 CJ5 needs brakes and general clean up, little Massey garden tractor I should finish, and I have a fresh motor for my 154 lowboy I should put in. My '62 Impala needs new front end bushings and I'm thinking about converting it to disc brakes. Or maybe just take a break and clean the shop. It sure can use it!

Nice job Doug. Those fenders will look just fine. You will be the only one that knows they aren't perfect. No one else will even notice.
