tuned up tractor runs better than it ever has, only problem is when i go up hill or hook up a plow it loses power, spits and sputters and dies. tractor is a 1952 8n ford. thanks in advance for any help
You say it runs better than it ever did before, but sputters under load. You are describing a lean condition, open up the high speed jet and see if it helps. It also could be a governor problem, but you haven''t mess with that so most likely it's the carb.(quoted from post at 05:48:56 01/29/20) tuned up tractor runs better than it ever has, only problem is when i go up hill or hook up a plow it loses power, spits and sputters and dies. tractor is a 1952 8n ford. thanks in advance for any help
all parts are american made and brand new, i have replaced plugs and wires for the second time and the same thing happens, i checked out the governor and it seems fine, has a couple of small flat spots on the balls but every thing else looks good(quoted from post at 07:14:42 01/29/20) Can you tell us what brand parts you used? I have had 2 things give the same symptoms: once was inferior new points & the other inferior new plugs.
will check in morning(quoted from post at 14:16:18 01/29/20) It sounds lean. There isn?t by any chance an air leak on the intake pipe, is there?
(quoted from post at 13:48:25 01/29/20) has a lot more r.p.m. than ever, buries the needle at half throttle, nearly comes back around to 0 at full throttle
found out the carb was the problem, dont know how, but rebuilt old carb and it runs great and climbs hills like it should.(quoted from post at 15:26:39 01/29/20)will check in morning(quoted from post at 14:16:18 01/29/20) It sounds lean.
