I can't seem to find what i'm looking for,,
What type of Hydraulic fluid and engine oil do i use in my 8n?
And how many gallons of Hydraulic does it take?
I know,,Goofy question,,
Thanks for any replies..

This is all covered in Bruce's 75 tips

I use 15W40 oil in the engine and universal hydraulic oil (which meets Fors 134 spec) in the transmission/rear end. The transmission/rear end
hold about 6 gal (get a big bucket when you drain it) and has three drain plugs and one fill plug.
Bruces tips

I also strongly recommend Bruce?s tips. He goes into the various reasons why you might pick one engine oil or trans/hydraulic/rear end fluid for your
tractor. Personally, I also use a 15W-40 oil in my 8N.

I would add if this is a drain and fill make, and it drives, make sure the fluid is mixed up to drain out a lot of the impurities. Also, if you have any issues with the hydraulic pump, and you're mechanically inclined, it would be a great time to lower the pump and clean it out. Mine had a lot of sludge on and in it.

Thanks guys,,yes i'm going to drain and refill,.. My 8n did not come with the 3 point. The guy i bought it from just put a hydraulic cylinder to the mount right below the seat, It works,, But now when i use it and if i raise the blade then stop it,,it will stop but in a few seconds the cylinder raises all the way up by it's self. So when i need to plow snow it's a chore fighting to keep it down to plow.
So i figure it needs a good cleaning.Once i figure out how to post pic's i will.. Thanks again Guys,,

It's not a goofy question at all. I was just looking for the exact same info and it's not easy to find. Even in the operator's manual and shop manual. Thank you for asking because I was as perplexed as you were !!
