Hydraulics is not my strong suit so I was wondering if you guys could help me troubleshoot my tractor. My 3 point lift is moving slow and doesn t always lift all the way up, it will usually stop lifting halfway up. Tractor is an MF 150 gas (tried posting in the MF forum but not a lot of action so I thought I d ask my N brothers).
At first I thought I had water in the fluid because it was white in color but upon closer inspection the white color is actually due to tons of small air bubbles in the fluid. What would cause air bubbles in the fluid? Looking at the book it looks like this tractor has a hydraulic filter so I was wondering if a clogged filter could cause this.
Another possibility that I was wondering about was the book says the system holds 8 gallons of hydraulic fluid. When I changed it only 6 gallons came out and when I refilled it with fluid it read full on the dipstick after I put in 6 gallons. I pulled the bottom bolt out of the inspection cover and fluid came out.
