Tri hole rocker top link

what was the purpose of the tri hole rocker arm that was on some 8N Fords. I know if you plow you are suppose to use the lowest hole. But what type of implement would have used/needed the other 2 holes. Seems
the top hole would be very sensitive.

sing Draft control, if daft is light, then in order to make any input, you may need to move up to top. Sandy soil and cultivators?

As Jmor sez light draft cultivation. The 3 hole rockers were only used on the later 8n/NAA and row crop units. A lot of guys will take advantage of the top two holes and slip in 1 3/4" square tube and mount the SMV triangle sign or a backrest for your seat or to mount a fire extinguisher or mount a flag or an umbrella. A lot of guys don't plow or cultivate so hydraulics are in position control
