8n foot throttle

Bought a foot throttle kit for my 8n. I don?t see how
you can have the hand throttle be used because the
foot pedal won?t work unless you move the hand
throttle as well. It didn?t come with directions

Try search on line for pictures.
If memory serves, the dowden rod has a loop that fits on the existing governor rod. There is a little stopper to adjust with. May have to unscrew the spring loaded connector on the end. I'm not home just now, or would go look/ take picture.
Mine is currently off the tractor, in a box.

I have one on my 52 8N that I had with my Wagner loader mounted. I keep forgetting it. 60 years using the throttle lever is deeply ingrained. I have the loader off and not sure I'll put it back on.

Here is mine

This is on Madison, Wisconsin Craig's List. Owner says the hand lever is disconnected.

The tractor in the picture does not appear to have a governor, at least I don't see one shown in the picture. Since there is no governor, the hand throttle was likely removed. Without a governor and a fixed position hand throttle, the engine would over speed when the load is removed. For example, if you kept your foot on the accelerator pedal of your car when the clutch was pushed in or the transmission placed in neutral you would hear the engine revving up.

The foot throttle when properly installed is used to increase the throttle sitting above that of the hand throttle. In other words, the hand throttle is used to set the base speed and the foot throttle is used when additional speed/power is desired. In either case the governor is still functional and acts to control the engine speed when load is added or removed.

What picture? The red tractor the picture does not go far enough to begine to see govener area. The Grey with 3 picks looks to be a6 culinder conversion and could not have that foot feed installed.

The grey tractor posted by 8NChris: He states the hand throttle has been disconnected. My point is, that would be because the engine does not have a governor. The foot feed in the picture appears to be a home built black pedal mounted above the right running board.

In the first picture, the top long rod goes from the hand throttle to the governor. You can see the loop slipped over that rod and the screw stop that sets where the foot throttle is set on that rod. So the long hand throttle rod works the governor and the foot throttle pulls on that rod to accomplish more RPM's

That's the Redrock Manf. foot throttle on my 8N. It works very well. It came with instructions and was easy to install.
