Will these chains fit?

I have an 8N with 11-2-28 rear tires. I have found a person selling used chains at a good price. This is what he said about the chains: They're 10' long and 16" wide.

Question is will these chains fit my tires? I have looked around and can't seem to find sizes. Any help would be great! Thanks.

IIRC, there is a chart on tirechains.com that related dimensions with tire size.

They look a little shy to me. I had these on my 9N

Here are some notes I've made (verified) over the years:

Set 1
Off of a Jubilee (Ford NAA)
Tires were 12.4 x 28
Chains measure 21 inches wide x 118 inches long
Should Fit 11.2 & 12.4 - 26 or 28 inch

Set 2
Off of an 8N
Tires were 11.2 x 28
Chains measure 21 inches wide x 118 inches long
Should Fit 11.2 & 12.4 - 26 or 28 inch

Set 3
Off of an Oliver 550
Tires were 13.6 x 26
Chains measure 24 inches wide x 118 inches long
Should Fit 13.6 & 14.9 - 26 or 28

Set 4
Off of a Farmall H
Tires were 12.4 x 38
Chains measure 20 inches wide x 164 inches Long
Should Fit 11.2 & 12.4 - 36 or 38

Set 5
Off of Sears Suburban 12 Garden Tractor
Tires were 22.5 x 7.50 - 12
(Approx Tire Size: 21" tall, 8" wide on 12"rim)
Chains measure 12 inches wide x 56 inches Long

you can always shorten them if they are to long that's what I did. Oldpopper had a set I got, cut them down and good to go.

So based on Farmer Dan's and your comments, the chains are too short and not wide enough. Am I reading your comments correctly?

Not too short, not sure why you think that. As I said, I have measured multiple pairs that came off of 28 inch tires and there all 118 inches long. You stated the ones you were looking at are 10 feet long. That's 120 inches.

Now 16 inches wide seems narrow. I question if they have been measured correctly. If they are indeed only 16 inches wide, then yes, way too narrow. Tire chains need to come down about halfway down the sides of the rubber. If they don't, you will have a bear of a time trying to keep them on.

Too narrow to fit over the top of tire with enough to fit down the side of tire to hold them on. That chain would be for a max 8.3 or narrower tire.

Thank you everyone. I have learned a great deal through this process. This has been very helpful and while these chains are a good price, given the width issue I will be passing on them.
