Starter Connector Post

I'm having an issue with an 8N side mount with what I think is the original starter. The post to connect the starter to the solenoid is stripped. There is enough thread left to put the nut on but it won't hold the connector tight. Is that post like a stud that could be unscrewed? Does anyone have an idea on how to make a tight connection?

this is what you need.

If you just want to get it going till you can repair properly they sell what is called a "Starter or solenoid repair stud". In a pinch I have also used a coupling nut screwed onto the short stud you have and then use a short bolt to attach cable to coupling nut.

If there's some good threads lower down on the stud you can cut part of the stud off and attach a "starter repair stud", no soldering or tech help needed.

There is enough thread (I think) to get a repair stud for now. I have found them for both fine and coarse thread that say they fit Ford tractors. I'm going to go back out and check before I order but is there one thread that they usually are?
Also, does threadlock interfere with electrical connections?

Take your starter motor to your local, trusty starer/alternator/generator shop and he will put a new stud in for you. Might even clean it up and test it for you too if
you ask.

This is a great time to have it just plain REBUILT by that shop, and never have to worry about the starter again. If you plan to use the tractor for more than another couple of years, it's definitely worth it.
