Hi there is there anyone out there that can manufacture a reduction gearbox Sherman live pro ?
Apparently this would fit a ford and or fergie to give live drive.
Or may be someone has one for sale
I?m sure I read on here someone was trying to fabricate the unit ???

You are [probably thinking about this. It is a ground speed gear reduction mounted to the rear of the transmission similar to a Howard - not a live PTO. With all of the other things I have going completing it is way down on my list.

Ns are great small tractors that will still do a lot of useful work for you.
But the reality is you will not add live pto to one. And you'll probably not slow one down enough to use on a tiller without spending a bundle of dough.
Think outside of the box. If you want a tractor with more features then buy one with more features. Ford 3000s could be optioned with tiller capable 8 speeds, power steering, differential lock, live pto, they all had live hydraulics, much more hydraulic capability and a diesel engine that put out more horsepower hours per gallon of fuel than an N would. And they are cheap and plentiful. You will pay less for a decent running 3000 than you will to restore an N and Way less than restoring an N and then trying to add the features you asked about.
Use your N to do the jobs it was designed to do. If you need it to do more then buy a tractor that was designed to do more.
You'll get more bang for your buck that way.
 
Your planetary gearing reminds me of the Epicyclic auxiliary Trans.

Epicyclic is the engineering term for a planetary transmission. Mine is a typical reduction design using a fixed annulus, sun gear as input, and planet carrier as output - overall reduction of 3.5:1. I was initially contemplating five planets but with my tooth counts that complicates the planet spacing so I dropped back to 4. What transmission is that in your picture and what was it used in? Looks very similar to the arrangement I had in mind for the N's?

It's the ferguson epicyclic gearbox. Never seen one on this side of the pond.

I have never seen that before. Very interesting - looks like it used a different design that allowed the annulus to rotate with a brake band to clamp it stationary when shifted. Harry also cheated - he extended the tractor to make room for it

Thanks, I found lots of stuff about it when I searched yesterday. I wonder why Ferguson never went mainstream with that. Its much better than the Rube Goldberg mess Howard made for the N-series tractors - hence my effort. Perhaps the less complicated and I am sure much less expensive planetary Howard made for the NAA and later models put the kebash on it.
