1950 Ford 8N With Clutch Stuck

I have a 1950 Ford 8N that we have pressure washed and painted. The tractor has been setting outside (covered with a tarp) for a couple of months while painting and restoring. Got it put back together today and the clutch is stuck. Tried holding the clutch in with the engine a little above an idle and pulled it into third gear a few times. Clutch is still stuck. Any suggestions? Other than breaking the tractor down.

Start it in neutral, get it warmed up then start it in 1st gear. Take it to where you have a slight downgrade and see if you can get it into a higher gear while rolling. Then drive it around with the clutch in. What did you use for a tarp? A friend pretty much wrecked a TO-30 a few years ago by covering it with clear plastic for a couple months. That was a lot worse than letting it get rained on.

If it's a sidemount, open the timing cover, get a can of brake cleaner w/ the straw and spray it behind the flywheel. Turn the flywheel to get good coverage.

If you have a frontmount, pull the starter.

See tip # 36 first.

start it in gear and drive it around with the clutch depressed and hit the brakes occasionally. It will usually
release unless the brakes don't work.

(quoted from post at 19:04:33 11/17/19) Did you have any luck?

I tried several of the suggestions from above with no luck. I had one gentleman give me the following advise and this did work. We took our bush hog and hooked up to the tractor. Then started the tractor with the PTO engaged with the clutch pushed in, This resolved the problem of the stuck clutch. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their help.
