8N Voltage Regulator

8 N origianl 6 volt system. I have been through 4 voltage regulators over the past 2 years. The last vendor said to spray WD40 inside before installing. It worked about 6 months. I polarize them as per instructions. Tapping on the cover does not help. I am paying about $35.00 for them. Are there better quality units available? I have a loader on this tractor and removing the voltage regulator is not an easy task. Thanks!

Ditto what R. Geiger said. I went through the same thing with my NAA. If you decide to go with a 12 volt conversion, you don't have to remove the V.R. Just cut the wires going to it and leave it in place.

The quality of Chinese made VRs is dismal at best.

My suggestion is to go to NAPA and try to get a US made Echlin or to another good auto parts store and get a US made Standard Ignition VR.

I have not had good luck with NAPA regulators. I have found if you use 10 gauge wire and ground the regulator base to the battery ground cable. the regulators last longer.

Dean, I have an Echlin voltage regulator sitting on the shelf. It was the last one I bought for my NAA. It lasted about 4 months.
