Ford in the shop

In 1983 I scraped together $650 and bought an 48 8N. I did a quick repaint and put it right to work as my main acreage tractor. Mowing, plowing snow, pulling hay racks, plus a lot of stupid stuff that should have killed it or me or both. Little tractor has always worked good for me. Two summers ago was its last regular duty as a mowing tractor when I upgraded to a modern cab tractor. Last summer it got moved once, to the far back of the shed. This week I was checking radiators for winter and gave it a look over. Wow what a mess. Needs tires, paint, steering fixed, rewired, sheet metal work, new lift arms, and a new seat. But with some fresh gas and battery she was running as good as ever. I know it makes absolutely no financial sense to bring it back, I can buy another one all done for half what this is going to cost. But that's what I'm going to do, so today it went into my shop for my winter project. Its took care of me for 36 years so about time I took care of it. Thanks in advance to those on this site when I have questions.

When I retired my 1940 9N she got a complete make over. Engine stripped to the block and rebuilt, removed all the old paint and spray new primer and paint, new tires, etc. etc. Maude is happy now enjoying her retirement.

the dealbreaker in both of your posts is the "?1" at the end of the URL. an image URL needs to end with a valid image file extension - in this case, ".jpg" - without any additional parameters which can be processed by the destination website, but are rejected here. sometimes, when u trim that stuff off, u end up with other issues, depending on how the image hosting website is configured. in this case, tho, no such issues :)

akes sense to me. The land fills are full of replaced products that could be fixed or simply cleaned up.

Thanks HFJ I keep forgetting about than ?1.

Here she is. And yes those puddles are fresh. Leaks out rear main seal, the PTO, the lift arm pins, the oil filter housing, right wheel seal, and a few other places I haven't figured out yet. But, the gas tank is perfect inside and there are no major pieces missing. I already found a good late model steering box with dash for a reasonable price. I'm going to start stripping her down next week.
